Alley Cats

Client: Netflix
Production Company: Blink Industries
Release 2026
Created by multi-award winning Writer and Performer Ricky Gervais,  Alley Cats is a brilliantly crude, rude and surprisingly heartwarming story about some jaded old strays who stumble upon a kitten searching for her home.

As Compositing Supervisor on the show, I worked closely alongside Co-Director Elliot Dear and Art Director Tang Heng to set the final look of the 6 episode series. We wanted the characters to feel as richly textured as the beautifully painted backgrounds, and I was in charge of crafting an ambitious and meticulous compositing pipeline to achieve this.

Once the look was set, I created a set of unique comp templates for each of the characters, which would apply grain and shadows to the Animation Layers in a bespoke process. Alongside this I worked with Blink Industries Pipeline team to create a set of pipeline tools to allow the Comp team to build each of the over 1500 scenes from these templates in an automated way - allowing the team the maximum time to work creatively on the shots.

As the series progressed and our team grew, my role evolved into the creative direction and oversight of the Compositing shots created by our 8 strong Comp team, to ensure every shot was of a consistant standard from animation render through to final delivery. Throughout the production I also worked hands on as lead compositor on the most technically challenging shots in each episode.
